About

Marian S. Anderson began her career as a commercial artist. She worked for several Chicago firms in the 1940-50s — an era in design history referred to as the Chicago Bauhaus. Marian studied at Washington University and recieved her BFA from the University of Illinois, later joining the fine arts faculty in 1947. After a period running her own design studio —all while raising a family — she began creating sculpture and continues to work out of her Michigan studio at the age of 102.
